We currently run multi-age group programs at our Long Street centre and have truly enjoyed seeing the benefits in action. We’re excited to be offering this model again in 2026 at our Lang Road centre.
Multi-age groups provide a range of rich learning opportunities. Younger children benefit from observing and learning from their older peers, while older children develop empathy and leadership skills as they support and scaffold younger ones. We see more advanced social interactions, diverse friendships, and play experiences that extend beyond what might occur in a single-age setting.
Our educators continuously adapt the program to meet the individual needs of all children, regardless of age, supporting their development in real time. Early childhood is a unique period where we can make meaningful adjustments and extend learning in the moment. Working from an emergent curriculum model, we are able to be highly responsive—encouraging learning through play while also incorporating intentional teaching to build each child’s capacity.
